Every question I get asked, answered in full.
Cost and payment
What a website costs, the ways to pay for it, and which package fits.
How much does a website cost?
Pricing starts at $1,000 for a single page and scales with what you need. Subscription Plans start at $88/month with no large payment to start. The estimate tool gives you a number in about 2 minutes, and the Pricing page has the full breakdown.
What kind of website do I need?
Most businesses land on Foundation — it includes five dedicated pages, lead-capture essentials, and the architecture that makes adding more pages straightforward as the business grows. If you just need a single credible page, Starter covers it. If you want interactive tools that generate leads (quote calculators, booking) or the ability to manage your own content, look at Growth or Business.
What's the difference between Growth and Business?
Growth (from $7,000) adds tools your customers use, such as quote calculators and booking. Business (from $13,000) adds tools you use, such as an admin panel to edit pages, services and content without calling a developer. Both are scoped around your business.
How does payment work?
Every website tier has two payment options: 50% to start and 50% at launch, or a monthly Subscription Plan from $88/month. I scope Growth and Business projects before quoting either option.
What's the monthly plan?
The same website you'd pay for upfront, spread across a fixed term with no build payment: Starter at $88/month for 12 months, Foundation from $242/month for 24 months, Growth from $346/month for 36 months, Business from $584/month for 36 months. The terms differ, so compare totals — $1,056, $5,808, $12,456, $21,024 respectively, in Canadian dollars before tax. Managed Hosting is billed separately at $30/month, as on an upfront build, and Foundation, Growth, Business include full Acuity Care for the whole term. Once the term is paid, the plan payment stops; hosting continues at $30/month if you keep it with me, plus Managed Database Infrastructure from $45/month if your site needs it, and Acuity Care becomes optional.
Can I pay monthly instead?
Yes — all four Subscription Plans (Starter, Foundation, Growth and Business) get you a real, custom-designed website with no large payment to start, billed monthly over an initial term. Terms run from 12 months on Starter to 36 on Business, so compare the total commitment shown on each card, not just the monthly figure. On Foundation, Growth, Business plans the monthly price includes full Acuity Care for the whole term — while I'm financing the website, I look after it — and Care becomes optional once it's paid off.
What happens after my monthly website term?
Your site transitions to standard Managed Hosting at $30/month — you're not paying the plan's full monthly rate forever just to keep the website. Acuity Care becomes optional from there if you want ongoing updates and a same-day reply to requests sent during my working hours.
What will my estimated total be?
Use the Get Started estimate builder — it separates your one-time project cost from your ongoing monthly cost so there's never a mystery number, and sends the breakdown straight to me for your consultation.
Owning your website
What is yours once it's paid for, and what that means if you ever leave.
Do I own my website?
Once paid in full, your domain, content, data, branding and design are yours. The website code and custom tools are licensed to your business, not sold: you get a permanent, worldwide, royalty-free right to use, host, maintain and change them. The licence is not tied to my hosting and can pass with a sale of your business. A separate company needs its own licence; you may not resell, sublicense, white-label or copy the software for another business. On a Subscription Plan, website payments stop when your initial term is paid. Hosting, monitoring, support and my code warranty last only while I host your site; they end if you leave. Moving hosts may break some tools until a developer reconnects them.
Hosting, care and changes
What it costs to keep a site running, and how changes get made after launch.
Is there a monthly fee?
Yes — every site I host runs on Managed Hosting, a flat $30/month (hosting, SSL, DNS, uptime monitoring and your domain connection). Acuity Care is optional if you paid upfront, from $89 to $199/month by tier (a one-page Starter site has no Care plan; its updates are billed as needed), and included for the whole term on a Foundation, Growth, Business Subscription Plan. Care covers small changes to what is already there; larger work is $95/hour at the Care Member Rate, or $125/hour without Care.
What does hosting cost?
$30/month, flat — the same for every site, whatever its traffic. It covers hosting, SSL, DNS, uptime monitoring, and your domain connection, kept under one reliable setup. It applies while your website is hosted and managed by Acuity, and there's no provider to choose or configure yourself. It isn't permanent rent on your website: once your project or plan term is paid in full the build is settled, and hosting is all that continues. Once it's paid for, your permanent licence lets you host the site anywhere, custom tools included, though moving may still break some functionality. See “Do I own my website?” below.
Do I need database infrastructure?
Most standard business websites do not. Contact forms and normal lead forms are covered by the standard website setup. Managed Database Infrastructure (from $45/month) is only needed when your site stores and manages persistent data such as products, inventory, customer accounts, orders, dashboard records, or other application data.
Can I make changes after the site launches, and do I need to know how to code?
No coding needed. Business-tier clients edit content in their own admin panel. For everyone else, Acuity Care covers small changes to what is already there — text, a photo, your hours or your prices — with no invoice and nothing to count down. On a Subscription Plan Care is included, looking after five pages and your form on Foundation; your pages and your customer tool on Growth; your pages, admin area and data on Business. Starter includes no Acuity Care, so changes there are billed as needed. Without Care, updates are $125/hour. Anything that adds a page, a new design or new functionality is quoted before I start.
What happens when I need changes?
With Acuity Care, small changes to what is already there are simply done, with larger work at the Care Member Rate. Whether you have Care depends on how you bought the website: it's optional if you paid upfront, included for the whole term on Foundation, Growth, Business monthly plans, and optional again once a financed website is paid in full. Without Care, updates and development are still available anytime, billed Pay As Needed — no subscription required.
Why is Care cheaper for additional work?
Care members maintain an ongoing service relationship, so they get preferred pricing on anything beyond a small change. It's not a discount for buying hours — it's the better rate for staying a Care member.
Getting found on Google
What the build does for search, and what the ongoing work is.
Do you do SEO? Will I show up on Google?
Every site is built for search: clean, semantic code, proper page titles and local schema markup, ready to connect with your Google Business Profile. No one can guarantee rankings, and SEO is an ongoing process rather than a one-time switch, but the technical groundwork is built in from day one.
Can Acuity help me with SEO?
Every site ships with an SEO-ready foundation. For businesses that want ongoing, active search optimization beyond that foundation, Acuity Local SEO is a separate optional monthly service.
Working together
Where I work, and how long a build takes.
Do you work with businesses outside the West Coast?
Yes. I'm based on BC's West Coast and work remotely with businesses anywhere; design, review and launch work the same way at a distance.
How long does a project take?
It depends on scope. Your consultation call gives you a realistic timeline before any work begins.
Didn’t find yours?
Ask me directly. The pricing page has every figure side by side, and a call is the quickest way to an answer about your own site.
