The Challenge
Comfort First needed more than a brochure site. Parents researching childcare on the West Coast have real, specific questions before they'll pick up the phone — what programs exist for their child's age, what it actually costs after provincial funding is applied, and how licensing and funding programs like CCFRI, CCOF, and ACCB affect their monthly rate. Explaining that clearly, without a wall of government jargon, was the core problem to solve.
The Solution
A custom-built site organized around how parents actually decide: clear program pages by age group, a plain-language breakdown of how BC's childcare funding programs work, and a dedicated fee tool so a parent can see their real monthly cost in seconds instead of calling to ask. Every piece — copy, structure, and functionality — was built specifically around this business, not assembled from a template.
Custom Functionality
- An interactive CCFRI fee calculator — pick an age group and schedule, and it shows the posted fee, the flat CCFRI reduction, and the resulting monthly rate in real time.
- A plain-language Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB) explainer, with a direct link out to the government's official ACCB estimator so parents can get their own income-based number without digging through provincial sites themselves.
- Program-specific information architecture — Programs, About, and Resources are structured and cross-linked around how a parent actually researches childcare, not a generic five-page template.
- A center-specific FAQ system addressing funding, licensing, and enrollment questions directly.
