State of Mind Roleplay

A custom site for an 18+ FiveM roleplay community — built around the three things that actually persuade someone to apply: the rules in full, the charge index, and a courthouse that sits.

The Challenge

The community had a WordPress site nobody had edited since March 2023, and it was quietly working against them. The Discord invite printed on it had expired. The application route it named linked to a third-party product page rather than the community's own instance, so anyone who followed it landed somewhere that could not accept an application. And the thing this community is genuinely proud of — a courthouse where cases are argued in real time, in character, after the arrest — appeared nowhere on it. Someone deciding whether to apply had no way to find out what the rules were, what actually gets enforced, or what happens once a scene ends.

The Solution

A hand-built site that leads with proof instead of claims. All 26 rules are published in full, definitions verbatim, with the five enforced timers lifted into a strip at the top so the numbers that decide a sanction are the first thing on the page. The charge index is a real, searchable list of the 56 statutes that come up on patrol, each deep-linked to the Washington law it mirrors. The courthouse gets its own section built around a real signed warrant from the community's own records. Applications go through Discord and only Discord, and the invite on the page was verified against Discord's API rather than assumed to still work — the previous one had been dead long enough that nobody knew.

Custom Functionality

  • A searchable 56-section charge index, grouped into eight titles, with every citation deep-linked to the official Washington RCW text so the authority stays current without anyone maintaining a copy. Search matches the vernacular players type — "hit and run", "DUI" — not only the legal captions, which return nothing on their own.
  • A public court docket with an authenticated write endpoint for the community's judge bot: a closed case arrives as judge, defendant, charges and outcome on a fixed schema with no free-text field anywhere, so a mirrored aside or a real first name has nowhere to reach an indexed page. Re-filing the same case reference replaces the row instead of duplicating it.
  • Live Discord presence rendered on the homepage, read server-side through a serverless endpoint — the site's content security policy does not let the browser call Discord directly, and loosening it for a status badge would have been the wrong trade.
  • A looping cinematic hero cut from the community's own footage, attached on desktop and swapped for a 16KB poster frame on phones, plus a department roster, gallery and rules search that all work with JavaScript disabled.

“We run a FiveM roleplay community and our website had been sitting untouched since 2023. I knew it needed work but I didn't know how much until Drew went through it — the Discord invite was dead so there was literally no way for anyone to join us, a link in the main menu was broken, and half the site was still default template content. He rebuilt the whole thing properly instead of patching it. What stood out was the stuff he flagged that I hadn't asked about: our domain was about to expire and the DNS wasn't set up where any of us thought it was. He told me immediately rather than letting it become a problem. He asks questions, gets the details right, and doesn't put things live until they've actually been checked, and his customer portal is super easy to manage invoices and payments. 10/10!”
